This project was completed during a two-week-long machine learning workshop at the Glasgow School of Art. Inspired by the question of "how can the music-making process become more accessible for all?" I set out to explore the ways in which we can use tech to include all types of folks in this process. Due to the manual dexterity, attention span, and memory required to write sheet music within universal notation, young kids are typically unable to participate. How could we offer a new way of writing, making, and playing music that is dynamic to all ages?

What if kids could understand music in a vocabulary that they are already comfortable with? Or better yet, their own self-identified vocabulary? The solution: using machine learning, create a device that turns children's drawings into music as they draw. During this quick sprint, I explored how to use Wekinator to pair hand-drawn shapes and colors with their own unique sounds. View the full project proposal below to see more detailed steps of the process.

MATERIALS USED: Wekinator , Camera, paper, and writing tools.
