Scoop, Shovel, Dig!
Immersive installation piece (4 ft x 3 ft x 1.5 ft), made of sand, frosted plexiglass glass, 6 pillars, and two projectors (one placed above the installation and one below). Installed in the Wesleyan Zilka Gallery in 2021.
Upon entering the dimly lit space, viewers were greeted with a sandy terrain, covered in earth toned hues. The installation prompts you to engage with the sandy plain however you would like (scoop, comb, build), exposing vibrant, neon colored pigments underneath. Participants were shocked to find what was underneath, creating tiny moments of delight, discovery, and reflection.
The show was up for a couple of days, serving as a shared site of play for the university. Watch the video below
